Authorities reported they were contacted by a man who found a vehicle in Hanau marked with red-colored fluid

Approximately fifty vehicles have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the German city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.

Automobiles, exterior walls and mailboxes were defaced, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they stated in a statement.

Law enforcement report they were alerted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a individual noticed that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued substance.

The fluid had been placed in the pattern of a swastika, they reported.

Police then found numerous other marked vehicles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.

Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.

Law enforcement state initial examinations show the substance was likely blood from a person.

"Currently there is no clue as to its source; officials are presently not aware of any injuries in relation with the incident," they stated.

Municipal representatives stated they were trying "to resolve the mystery" and have appealed to the residents for details.

An important representative stated the vandalism rendered him stunned and required to be addressed promptly.

"This act affects the core of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the right-wing violent incident in 2020," he stated on online, recalling the killing of nine individuals by a shooter targeting people of immigrant origin in five years prior.
